Week 5: From "Sado" to Market Competition

This week’s class was fun but still full of useful learning. One of the main topics we discussed was CIPUPM progress, especially about the competitive market.

We started with a simple but interesting question which is why does “kedai abang sado” have more customers compared to others? At first, everyone was laughing and curious. I even just found out that “sado” means “besar bodo” 😂 (thanks to Airil for the explanation in class!). Even though it sounds funny, it actually led to a serious discussion about business.

We learned that it is not always about the product being cheap or tasty. Sometimes, customers are attracted because of branding, image, and how unique a shop looks. The “abang sado” example shows that customer attention can come from how a business presents itself, not just what it sells.

Besides that, we also learned about the Osaka Case Study. It teaches us how to analyse a case using FILA  which stands for Facts, Ideas, Learning Issues, Action Plan).

Facts: what really happened

Ideas: possible thoughts or explanations

Learning Issues: what we still need to learn

Action Plan: what we should do next

At first, it looks complicated, but once we understand it, FILA is actually very helpful. It helps us think in a clear and structured way when solving problems. Overall, this week's class was very interesting.

Stay tuned for the next blog :))
